Associate

Haya is an Associate at Shahid Law Firm’s International Business and Dispute Resolution department. Prior to joining the firm in June 2023, Haya trained in the Dispute Resolution and Corporate / M&A departments of global law firms in Cairo and in Paris.

Since joining the firm, Haya has been primarily assisting clients in a wide range of industries – including industrial, construction and real estate companies based in Egypt and abroad – in international arbitration proceedings conducted under various institutional rules (ICC, ICSID, CRCICA).

Haya has additionally been involved in several corporate mandates, assisting in the conduct of legal due diligence ahead of high-scale transactions, as well as participating in contract negotiation and drafting in relation to upcoming megaprojects in Egypt.

  • Represented a South Korean industrial in a dispute against an Egyptian state authority and a Kuwaiti transport and logistics group arising out of a multi-million dollar agreement settling a set of arbitral awards rendered in relation to the termination of the Damietta Port container terminal development project. CRCICA Rules and Egyptian law applied.
  • Representing Heidelberg Cement Group as co-counsel in a multi-million dollar investment arbitration against the Arab Republic of Egypt in relation to the distortion of the cement market in Egypt, and unfair competition by state-owned enterprises.
  • Representing a major financing company and its owner, a renowned Egyptian Businessman (who is also the Managing Director and one of two shareholders of one of the major dairy production and distribution group of companies in Europe and the Middle East) in a multi-million dollar shareholders’ dispute over allegations of mismanagement of the financing company. ICC Rules and Egyptian law apply.
  • Representing the Egyptian owner of a landmark Hotel in Cairo against a US hotel operator in a dispute relating to the early termination of the Hotel’s management agreement as a result of the hotel operator’s mismanagement and breach of its fiduciary duties. ICC Rules and Egyptian law apply.

Haya holds an L.L.B. and a Master of Laws degree in Comparative Business Law from Paris-Panthéon-Assas University.
