Ahmed Rasekh is an Associate at Shahid Law Firm, admitted before the Courts of First Instance. He specializes in dispute settlement, focusing on investor-state disputes, construction-related disputes, energy-related disputes, environment-related disputes, and corporate and commercial agreements. Ahmed maintains a broad international commercial practice, handling cases under various institutional rules, including ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, DIAC, and CRCICA across multiple jurisdictions.
He has significant experience advising clients in diverse industries such as construction, renewable energy, oil and gas, hotel management, fintech, distribution, agency, and trade & competition. Ahmed’s expertise is bolstered by strong connections to both academic and business communities. He regularly publishes articles in his fields, including a recent co-authored case comment for ICSID Review titled “All’s Well That Ends Well? Looking at the Future of the Unified Arab Agreement in Light of the Al Kharafi v. Libya Decisions by the Egyptian Courts.” Additionally, he volunteers as an arbitrator in moot court competitions, contributing to the development of future legal talent.
• Acted as co-counsel for CTIP Oil & Gas International Limited (UAE company) and its shareholders (Canadian) against the Arab Republic of Egypt in an international investment dispute over a large natural gas distribution network before ICSID and UNCITRAL under the Egypt-UAE and Egypt-Canada BITs
• Acted as co-counsel for Gesenu S.p.A against the Arab Republic of Egypt in an investment arbitration dispute before ICSID, under the Egypt-Italy BIT.
• Represented a Saudi construction company in a multi-million dollar dispute under the ICC Rules, and Saudi Law as a governing law, against an international conglomerate. The dispute relates to one of the major Saudi Gas projects.
• Acted as counsel in a dispute in the housing and development sector under the DIAC Rules, and UAE Law as a governing law.
• Represented a leading Egyptian company in the media field in a complex dispute under the CRCICA Rules.
Ahmed has received an LL.B. from Cairo University English Section and is an Associate at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
